Graphic Design Intern



CARE is an international development organisation fighting global poverty with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring sustainable changes to their communities.

CARE aims to tackle the underlying causes of poverty and social injustice and to bring lasting change to the lives of poor and vulnerable people.

Founded in 1945, today CARE works in over 90 countries around the globe. CARE has been working with Cambodians since 1973, with an office in Phnom Penh since 1991.

Today, CARE focuses on empowering particularly marginalised and vulnerable women in Cambodia, including urban women who are marginalised by occupation, rural women who are denied multiple rights, and women and girls from ethnic minorities.

CARE is seeking a qualified national candidate to fill the position of Graphic Design Intern. The length of the internship is between 6 months with the expectation for 1-year term. This position is based in Phnom Penh with refrently travel to field office.


You will be receiving monthly stipend 165$ and entitle to the accident insurance as a part of the benefit and the key learning below:

I- RESPONSIBILITY:

Your major responsibilities will be varied and will include:

  • Design engaging graphic communications and marketing materials for print and web. This will include marketing/communication brochures, website and social media graphics, posters, flyers, and other marketing materials while adhering to brand guidelines

  • Work closely with the senior media and communications officer to translate messaging concepts into communications materials.

  • Assist the senior media and communications officer and project teams with other projects.

  • Opportunity to build portfolio to debut yourself as a professional graphic designer

  • Candidates can learn various communications skills and qualifications such as social media management, writing, video editing and more depending on interests.

II- SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Currently in pursuit of associate’s, bachelor’s, or recent graduate at college or university in Cambodia or abroad

  • Preferred degree of study in graphic design, art, communication, advertising or closely related field

  • Individual should be able to craft and execute a vision with creativity and style

  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration

  • Must be proficient in Adobe Creative suite such as Photoshop, illustration, Indesign and/or other common design applications

  • Ideal candidate will be energetic, task-oriented, and creative with strong work ethic and positive attitude

  • Ability to communicate well with others and maintain a professional demeanour

  • Desire to serve in a nonprofit organisation is a bonus

  • Good communication skills both written and oral in Khmer and English

  • Flexible Working Arrangement: In order to improve employee’s work-life balance, CARE Cambodia has developed a flexible working arrangement policy.   • Leave: CARE Cambodia provides staff with paid time off from work for rest and personal time or for other reasons. All full time employees are entitled to 18 days of Annual Leave, 15 days of Sick Leave, 5 days of Special Leave, 3 months Maternity Leave/Adoption Leave, 7 days of Parental Leave/Adoption Leave, Nursing Leave and Study Leave.

  • Public Holiday: CARE Cambodia the mandated public holidays (22) based on the Prakas by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.

  • Time Off In Lieu: CARE Cambodia promotes a healthy work and life balance and does not encourage employees to work outside normal working hours. If those employees have to work during the weekend or public holidays due to requirements, he/she will be entitled to Time off in Lieu.

  • Learning and Development: Continuous improvement through learning and development is a critical aspect of CARE Cambodia’s people focused agenda.

  • Remote Duty Station Allowance: Giving an understanding on some challenges facing by staff that moving to field offices at north eastern provinces, CARE Cambodia provides extra allowance to staff who has no permanent address at filed offices.
