From 25 November to 10 December every year the world shines a spotlight on the need to prevent violence against women with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Each year CARE Cambodia works with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, UN Women and other partners in Cambodia to focus on a different aspect of this.
This year’s official UN Women theme is #HearMeToo and CARE International in Cambodia will use the subtheme of #ThisIsNotWorking focusing on ending violence in the world of work. CARE will promote the objectives of CARE’S campaign to prevent and end violence and harassment in the workplace. This includes a focus on the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention on Ending Violence and Harassment in the world of work.
CARE engages with national networks in collaboration with partners including UN Women and Ministries of Women’s Affairs.
Promoting women’s right to a life free from violence is one of CARE’s core goals and in 2017, more than 11 million people around the globe benefited in some way from our work to address gender-based violence.
CARE International in Cambodia currently has many projects focusing on this issue and we are conducting activities with women and girls in workplaces, schools and communities throughout the 16 Days of Activism to make their voice heard.
